Shipping Technology and SEAFAR have teamed up. The firms hope to create a shared value proposition by fusing SEAFAR’s remote and partially autonomous navigation technology with the latter’s autonomous and data-driven management tools.
The partnership was formed out of a cooperative project between Bosman Shipping Group and Shipping Technology and SEAFAR, whose technology will be installed on the MS Progres. These three businesses are also developing a project team to collaborate with lawmakers and education (training) organizations on the development of the inland shipping industry’s technology-driven future roles.
The firms expect that their collaborative offering would speed the development of safe, semi-autonomous inland navigation and have a positive impact on automation on board. Additionally, by working together, politicians and regulators may be given a clear image that might help advance legislation and a safe crew reduction in the future.
