Annual Report 2025

The European Inland Waterway Transport (IWT) Platform’s 2025 Annual Report provides an overview of the Platform’s activities and key developments shaping the inland waterway transport sector over the past year.

The report is structured in two main parts, reflecting the core areas of our work: the activities of the Brussels secretariat and the contributions of the Platform’s committees. Together, they offer a clear picture of ongoing efforts to support a sustainable, competitive, and resilient inland waterway transport sector in Europe.

Part 1 – Activities of the Brussels Secretariat

This section outlines the Platform’s main activities, including governance developments and involvement in key EU-funded projects such as ReNEW, PLATINA4Action, PIONEERS, and DT4GS. It also highlights the launch of DiVINE (Digitalisation Vision Inland Navigation Europe), a flagship initiative coordinated by the Platform, to develop an operational roadmap for the digitalisation of inland waterway transport towards 2035.

In addition, this section covers the Platform’s stakeholder engagement at European level through policy discussions, events, and communication activities.

Part 2 – Activities of the Committees

The second part highlights the work of the Platform’s committees, showcasing their contributions across key areas including innovation and digitalisation, social and education, safety, and infrastructure, and reflecting the expertise coming directly from the sector.
