By 17 January 2022, the Directive (EU) 2017/2397 on the recognition of professional qualifications in inland navigation and repealing Council Directives 91/672/EEC and 96/50/EC, must be transposed into national law. From 18 January 2022, uniform requirements for the acquisition and recognition of professional qualifications in inland navigation, as well as for the service record books and logbooks will apply across the EU. The new law harmonises qualifications, promotes comparability of training and examination, and creates uniform documents.
