The Dutch government has reaffirmed its commitment to greener inland navigation through the SRVB Subsidy Scheme for Sustainability of Inland Vessels. This programme offers financial support to vessel owners investing in low-emission and zero-emission technologies.

Key Details for 2025:

  • Application Period: 13 January – 31 October 2025 (or until the €19 million budget is exhausted).
  • Eligible Investments:
    • Stage V-certified engines or electric powertrains.
    • SCR catalytic converters and soundproofing measures.
    • Hybrid systems combining SCR catalysts with particulate filters.

Subsidy Amounts:

  • Up to 20% of eligible costs for large enterprises.
  • 40% for medium-sized enterprises and 50% for small enterprises.
  • Additional 10% for zero-emission vessels (maximum €400,000 per ship).

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must:

  • Operate regularly on Dutch waterways (minimum 60 days per year for at least 12 months before and 2 years after adjustments).
  • Own an operational inland vessel with a valid EU or Swiss inland shipping certificate.
  • Comply with updated EU environmental standards under the AGVV framework.
