The inland waterway transport (IWT) sector has voiced its position on the proposed amendment to Directive 2005/44/EC, part of the legislation governing river information services (RIS) in the European Union. Initiated in 2005, the RIS Directive has been instrumental in fostering safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability within the IWT sector. As discussions emerge regarding amendments to this directive, the IWT sector, represented by EBU, ESO and IWT, seeks to offer insights and recommendations crucial for shaping the future of European waterborne transport.
